October 23, 2009: Day 9, Travel and Home Sweet Home

It looks as if we have a little angel sleeping for our red-eye flight back home, but this is deceiving, this is BEFORE the flight even takes off, and upon take off, she woke up and remained awake for the ENTIRE flight back to Portland, Oregon.  It was miserable.  I had to hold her pretty much the whole way back, making for a tired and cranky mommy.

Look at this, upon landing in Portland, the little "angel" fell asleep promptly and remained asleep for a few hours, until we were ready to board the final flight home.

Not to be out-cuted by her sister, Selena also slept at the airport.

October 22, 2009: Day 8, Honolulu and Travel

For our last day in Hawaii, we spend the morning playing at the pools and beach.

We then enjoyed a walk to the International Market Place and the Army Museum at our hotel.  There are some beautiful flowers at our hotel.

We bought some items for us, and some gifts for our family, there was quite a wide selection of things to look at and buy!

After we returned from the Marketplace, we played on the toys at the hotel, followed by this...
A delicious lunch of fresh fruit!

October 21, 2009: Day 7, Drive Around Island!

Today we drove around the island of Oahu.  We started with driving to the Tantalus overlook, and then driving through Punchbowl National Memorial Cemetery.

We drove by Halona Blowhole and Sandy Beach

We visited Nu'ualu Pali Park and Ho'omaluhia

We even had our very own pied piper along.  Selena had a bag of bread and fed the ducks.

We drove the I-H3 tunnel.  This "interstate" highway cost $80 million per mile of construction!  For a total of $1.3 billion.

We visited Valley of the Temples and fed some doves.

We saw a lot of the island on this quick, around the island drive.  Chinaman's Hat, Waimanalo, Manana Island, Koko Crater, and much more.

October 20, 2009: Day 6, Pearl Harbor

Pearl Harbor Day

Today we took a bus (Bus #20) to Pearl Harbor.  There was a really rude guy on the bus sitting near us that was just terrible, but once he got off the bus it wasn't too bad.  We enjoyed Pearl Harbor.  Some of the monument was under construction, but we still had a nice time.  I didn't get to watch the video at the Visitor Center because Abby was fussy, but we all enjoyed the boat ride to the Arizona.
After we rode the bus back to the hotel and tried to nap, when that didn't work, we went to play at the pool and the beach.  We went in just in time before a quick rain storm hit.

October 19, 2009: Day 5, Travel, Oahu, and a Luau

Rainbow over camp and steam vents along the road.

View from the air of Hilo and the volcanoes.
 Luau at the Hale Koa

Dinner was YUMMY!  I could eat this food for every meal and never tire of it!

We had a terrible flight between islands.  Abby did not want to be buckled in and while I held her, she screamed and hit and kicked the entire flight (45 minutes).  It was awful, I cried for most of the flight too.  After we got to our hotel, we explored the shops, pools, and beach.  For dinner we went to a luau at the hotel.  The food was absolutely delicious!
